Amy Sprecher

Amy Sprecher is a multi award-winning and Emmy-nominated producer of children's and family programming for over 20 years. She has dedicated her career to children of all ages, first as a teacher and then developing and producing quality work for children and families in many types of media. Amy has held senior management positions in a variety of media companies, ranging from cable networks, home entertainment, and independent production companies. She has worked extensively in programming, production, development, acquisitions, home entertainment, web development, community outreach and licensing initiatives.

Amy formed her own company, The Sprecher Company, LLC ("TSC"), in January, 2000. TSC is an entertainment company offering executive producing and management consultancy services in all areas of entertainment media. A selection of Amy's credits under her own company banner includes the following… Amy is currently working with The Ohmies, a multi-pronged kids and family health and wellness brand, as a strategic business consultant. She is responsible for refocusing their business strategy and execution thereof including targeting and securing strategic alliances, live touring, licensing/sponsorship relationships, website expansion, and broadband and/or broadcast/cable distribution outlets. She is also a General Partner and the Creative Producer for Little House on the Prairie, the Musical which will have a brand new production in Cumberland, Tennessee in the Fall, 2012. Her responsibilities include the oversight of creative, marketing, and education for the new Broadway musical based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's books (premiered at the Guthrie Performing Arts Center in Minneapolis, Summer 2008 (sold out) and the 1st National Tour launched in August, 2009). The book is by Rachel Sheinkin (Spelling Bee, Tony®), composer, Rachel Portman (Emma – Academy Award Winner) and the lyricist is Donna DiNovelli. She has also worked with Sesame Workshop assisting them in expanding their writing talent for Sesame Street. In addition, she worked as a Business/Brand consultant with the rights holders to help package the classic literary property Frog and Toad with a Production Company/Broadband and Broadcast Network. Amy was the Executive Producer for Ready Set Learn!, Discovery Kids Preschool Block from 2000 – 2008. This included oversight of the multi award-winning preschool block which began with the creation of the strategic business plan that led to the re-development and re-launch of the block in 2003, all of which Amy was responsible for. The programming that Amy had oversight of included: Paz, Peep and the Big Wide World (2 Emmy Awards), Hi-5, Bigfoot Presents Meteor and the Mighty Monster Trucks, ToddWorld, Hip Hop Harry, Wilbur and more. Amy also served as Executive Producer on Wilbur, ToddWorld and Paz. She herself has received multiple Emmy nominations for ToddWorld and for Paz. She has also received multiple Parent Choice Awards, Humanitas Award Certificates, and Kids First Film Festival awards. In addition to Discovery Kids, her client roster has included Sesame Workshop, Open Mind Productions, Big Tent Entertainment, WGBH, USA Home Entertainment, and other independent production companies.

Prior to forming her own company, Amy held the following positions: She was VP of Acquisitions and Production of PolyGram Video from 1996-1999; VP of Program Development of Lancit Media Productions from 1994-1995; and Manager of Current Programming and Production of Lifetime Television from 1991-1993.

Prior to that, Amy was a writer, teacher, composer, musician, and performer of children's theatre and school programs (K-12) from 1985-1990. After graduating with a Bachelor in Music with Honors from Indiana University in 1981, she was a classical concert pianist, music teacher and paralegal from 1981-1990.
